A Letter to FOS x LaunchAngle

I won't lie, the word "creative" really threw me for a loop when I originally read the tweet. I didn't want to be "basic" with my reasoning but I also didn't want to seem over the top- beyond the "professionally passionate" level. I figure if I just stick to myself and be authentic then you will see how genuine my reasoning is.

Well, my name is Reesa and I am a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida. Throughout my undergrad, I was fortunate enough to have a few amazing mentors, some of whom will be "huddle leaders" at the event; shoutout Eric and Stuart. Those two, among many others, have prepared me for the world of social and digital in sports more than I can even attempt to explain. But, as they both know, my goal is entertainment. Actually, LaunchAngle sounds very on par with my ideal career goals. When describing myself outside of social I always say "I love to be the middle man. To connect two things that belong together but don't know it or don't know how."

My reasoning for wanting to attend this conference is because I plan on volunteering, yes completely free, my next couple of months and summer to the Jamaican Women's National Team. They have just qualified for their first ever Women's World Cup and that being my homeland I want to help in any way that I can. I could not help but notice that during World Cup Qualifiers the social media presence was, lackluster? to put it kindly. The team does not have the resources or money to bring on a full marketing or content team to help them grow their brand and garner the attention that U.S. Soccer has created around the USWNT. Seeing as my skills include photography, writing, and social- I firmly believe I can help guide them way above where they are now. But, being a one-man team will be hard. Which is why I would appreciate nothing more than the opportunity to learn from some of my favorite industry leaders. The ultimate goal is: to create a better brand for this women's team that will land them the sponsors and the eyes that they deserve. Every "huddle" sounds as though it could be insanely beneficial to attend in order to start executing a plan on how to take on this World Cup.

Could you imagine if I were able to create a strong brand for not only the team but even a few players that could lead to more opportunities for them? I am not writing on behalf of myself but for these girls who have worked tirelessly on making their dreams come true and wanting the opportunity to highlight them in the best light.

But if I may be a tad bit selfish, I would absolutely love to hear Jason Stein speak. I have followed his career for quite some time, listened to every podcast he has been on, and read nearly every article he's been a part of. There is also the networking aspect that could prove to be a game changer for a recent college grad. I feel as though having the opportunity to partake in a conference of this stature so young could be pivotal to my career.

Thank you for listening and chosen or not, I am filled with immense gratitude for you for creating this opportunity.

Respectfully,

ReesaPaige.
